Acerca de mim

The routine upset me so I waited until I found myself in the right frame of mind and I made it happen. I am living a great and hard adventure, that I expect every day to overcome. For me life must be lived day by day, taking the most important of it. When someone ask me: “but why Edinburgh?” I replies that is the Tibet nearest to Portugal. I try every day to keep a smile on my face, a sunny smile, even when my heart is sad, sunless day are long and slow to go. I found that my family and friends give me the strength to keep on going with the present. Ilse Furtado

R. Burns Night!

This is my little tribute to the writer and poet Robert Burns, as he has been remembered this week here in Scotland. He was born on 25 Jan. 1759 and left a great poetic work and some romances.

“No more is more charismatic than R. Burns passionate, intelligent and a consummate wordsmith; he is the world’s most popular love poet…”

“Burns, an admirer of Shakespeare and English literature as well as a patriotic
loner of Scotland and Scottish literature delighted in being hailed as Scotland
bard…”

In The Robert Burns Biography, Robert Crawford.

While shopping I came across two books, one was an enormous poetry book and the other was a thin children’s story book which I bought and we have been reading. And you know where we found them?
Here, in a very known shop near my house, I mean in Lidl ! Do you now a better place to hit people than a supermarket?
The children’s book is one good way to reach some authors, mainly when you are dealing with a new language. It was my daughter Lily who discovered them and sharply asked me if we could buy it, so, of course, I consent.
I thought to myself, if I try to satisfy such solicitations, as part of my
education plan for my daughter, she will become interested in reading, right?
With so much advertising about games like PSPs and Nintendos, it has not been
hard to keep her away of such objects and makes her became more interested in
books.
I wonder why the TV ads don’t promote books. Isn’t reading culture important?
I have learned a lot from reading with Lily. And by doing this, I am "killing two
birds with one stone"!
